ANVISA PUBLISHES THE COMMENTED RDC 222:2018

The management of the health services waste (GRSS), before the creation of ANVISA, was regulated only by resolution of CONAMA. After the creation of ANVISA, this Agency began to regulate the internal procedures of the health services, relative to GRSS and the supervision is responsibility of the Sanitary Surveillances of each State, City and DF (Federal District), with the help of the local environmental agencies, aided by the Sanitation Services and the Urban Cleaning Services.

Part of the waste generated is considered to present similar risk to households, and may have the same destination, sewer or landfill.

14 years after RDC 306:2004 came into force and due to the questionings received during this time, as well as the evolution of the technologies and also the fact that the Law 12.305/2010 came into force, instituting the National Policy of Solid Waste (PNRS), there was a need to review this RDC and to publish a new regulation which encompassed the legal and technological innovations that appeared during this period.

The document is meant to comment the articles found in the RDC 222:2018, that regulates the good practices of waste management of health services following the correct fulfillment of the regulation.
